I haven't posted here since September 29, 2011. *sweeps away cobwebs, dust and tumbleweeds* So I horned in on a Twitter conversation between [livejournal.com profile] glam_ang and [livejournal.com profile] glammetalkitten about how they missed LJ and how difficult it can be to squee and indeed, have an actual discussion in 140 characters. And being as I can be very long-winded, I thought it behooved me to join in their LJ Revival! :)

So what's Ev been doing? Well... I'm retired now. Early retirement at 55 years old and it's wonderful! Just not having to hear that damned alarm clock every morning is bliss. :) Now, you'd think that this would give me all the time in the world to indulge in all kinds of fannish and fun things, but the reality is I never seem to get around to doing all that I want to do!

So what have I been doing? Well...

On the writing front, I have been nerdling about with some original fic, nothing past the first few pages and planning stages though. I've been RPGing over at JournalFen in The Establishment and having a wonderful time exploring the um, ins and outs of a kinky sex club. It's also interesting and fun having writing partnerships. I wish more folks would join up. (The pups I play are Matt Bomer, Adam Levine, Colton Haynes, Anna Trebunskaya, Pat Monahan and Shemar Moore)

Fandoms? Well, I can't say that I'm immersed in any actual fandoms right now and I miss it. The Est takes up time and brain power, but there's always room for more, I figure. Hey, I'm retired! *LOL* I do on occasion read the odd DC fic - especially if it's Roy and Dick because they will never not be my OTP of the DC Universe. I've also dipped into Hawaii Five-O and White Collar. There's not been much on the rockbandom side of things that's interested me, I have to say. There's too much 'noise' over at Rockfic these days to entice me to join in - although I continue to lurk to see what's happening. (I also think that missing Julie accounts for my reticence there as well.) They just all sound so YOUNG for the most part.

What am I watching on TV? OMG, I must be watching All The Shows. *LOL* I don't miss Dancing with the Stars, Hawaii Five-O, Revolution, The Voice, Criminal Minds, The Shonda Shows, The Amazing Race, Survivor, Arrow, Once Upon a Time, Grimm and there are others that I enjoy almost as much. *LOL* AS for Arrow, because I know some of my buds are watching too, I love it. It's ARROW, for God's sake! (Archers... I love Archers... yes, Hawkeye rules almost as much as Green Arrow... almost... and Katniss is very, very cool.) I think Arrow is going to take a few episodes to hit its stride and I wish Ollie would lighten up a little, he's really not that much All Bizness. That's the one deviation from canon I don't like. I can deal with the other changes from the comics - Smallville taught me how to do that. *LOL*

What am I reading? Well, the past while I have been immersed in m/m romantic/erotic/adventure/mystery novels and short stories. There are some really terrific authors out there. As everyone knows, I love my romance, and this genre puts a new flavour into the mix that I find quite delicious. I have read (and as a result, written) things that I never, ever would have thought I would enjoy so much. As a result of this new love of mine, I'm also helping out a couple of my favourite authors on their porn blog. I am the Guest Post Wrangler for Coffee and Porn in the Morning, aka CoP. What that means is I'm the contact for all the guest posters on the blog, I schedule, format and upload their posts, and do the contest drawings. Heidi and Marie are two of the nicest women and terrific writers too.

Oh, my comics! Well... *g* I re-entered the comic world with the start of the New 52 from DC. I don't do Marvel hardly at all. ANYWAY... the New 52 offered me a chance to start from 'scratch' and not feel as if I've missed everything important. I was pulling 25+ books a month, but now I'm down to 11, I think. AND I'm behind. *LOL* I don't have the Tim, Damian, Jason angst that I get from many corners of the fandom, I think, because the only true Robin is actually Dick Grayson and all others are pretenders.

Have I rambled on long enough? 140 characters... PFFFT!!

I am VERY excited about Arrow. it started oon Sky over here yesterday and I cannor wait to catch up. I seem to recall one of the geeky sites I follow on Twitter RTing something about Roy being "when, not if" and my squee-ometer went off the scale!

Yeah, I think the "When, not if" came from a writer/cast/producer panel and NYC's comic-con? Or maybe a Paley Centre thing? But I squeed too! :)

Years ago Lia and I thought Damian Lewis woould make a good Roy, but I think might be just a little old, now?

Yeah, definitely a little old. *nodnod* I'm totally casting my Matt Bomer as Nightwing, there is NO denying it. *g* I shall have to look for a good match for him for his Roy or Arsenal pre-New 52 as he would be.

Back in the day, Damian would have made a lovely Roy/Aresenal.

Oh, yes, Matt Bomer would be AMAZING as Nightwing. Totally pretty enough!

And has the Best Ass EVER. May I produce evidence.

And as Dick has the best ass in the whole of the DC universe... I'm just sayin'. :)

I think everyone has their own Robin, just like everyone has their own Doctor. Robin, for me, will always be Tim (and I pity the generation who will grow up with Damien as their Robin.)

I've read a few fics (by helens78) set in The Establishment 'verse. I didn't realise it was set around a sex club; everything I read was quite domestic!

Good to see you back, Ev! *hugs*

Dick... well, Dick and I grew up together. :) My first love. Heee!

Oh yes, Ang, The Est is a kinky sex club! (Fandom is a very small place. I know Helen... well, mostly OF Helen from the Est and it's funny to see you speaking of her. *g*) Trust me, it's not all in a domestic setting! *LOL* My Matt pup would like to add that he and his husband have an actual playroom in their NYC condo, so they don't get to the club very often these days which, he supposes, makes his kink rather domestic in nature. *facepalm*

I have to say, the Billy Joe Armstrong/Mike Dirnt story arc from The Est is wonderful! It was written a long while ago, but it's still amazing.

IT's good to see you too! *huggers* Maybe we'll start a movement! A return to LJing! :)

My first love was George Michael, and look how that turned out!

I read a lot of Helen's stuff when I was reading LOTRps stuff years ago, but hadn't twigged that there were other people writing in a shared universe (or even that it was a role-play type thing).

I'm not sure how many people still have an interest in LJ (just noticed that H has deleted), but there are plenty of new people out there to befriend!

And isn't Once Upon A Time brilliant? I love Fables (except the last two story arcs which Needed Work), so it's right up my street. Grimm, not so much; I thought I'd like it as I watch a lot of police stuff, but something about it isn't connecting for me.

Some of that LOTRps is INCREDIBLE! :) It's what got more than a few people involved in the Est. I've read a small portion of it, but there's SO much.

I think a lot of people have scattered to Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook as the 3 things to replace LJ - or maybe they're over on Dreamwidth. I just find it sad that when people run to avoid the kerfuffles, it splits up communities and people lose touch and everything. *sigh* I still think that this is the best way to hold discussions.

I love Once Upon a Time for the most part. I really HATE the way Henry treats Regina. He can be such a cruel little boy. But maybe you aren't as far along as me? Being adopted myself, it really bothers me. But other than that, I really, really enjoy it. As for Grimm... again, not sure where you are, but it did go through a bit of a doldrums during the middle of last season, but this new season has been great so far. Maybe it's the Grimm fellow himself? I find he fades into the background and my attention is far more on his co-stars.

We are waiting for s2 of Once to start and s2 of Grimm started yesterday, so we're probably quite behind. Henry can be cruel, yes, but I am looking forward to my questions about him being answered.

Well not so far behind us. We've had a few episodes of each so far. No answers about Henry yet though. :) I think that his father is actually Rumple's boy Bay, B, whatever Robert is saying in that accent of his. *LOL*

'Scuse me butting in! Definitely agree with you on the first paragraph. Because of when I got into comics (whoa...six years ago now) Tim was Robin, and Dick was his big brother Nightwing (and my comics hisband, but that's another story!). So Tim will always be Robin for me.

I did, however, rather enjoy one of the more recent Bat-trades which had Bruce, Dick, Tim and Damian bickering in the kitchen before settling down to movie night and wow, I wish somoeone would write more of that for me!

I concur! Come back to Rockfic, Ev! Even if it's just to poke your head in occasionally. I even wrote Lars recently :)
