Gacked from
rheakurokawa and
rockfic. A really interesting meme!
What's the last thing you wrote?
Completed? Starzfucker. The last thing I actually worked on? A scene for the final chapter of Nightmares.
Is it any good?
Starzfucker? I think so - I'm pretty pleased with it and I did get good reviews from folk I respect. The scene? Well... it needs some work. *LOL*
What's the first thing you ever wrote that you still have?
Somewhere in all my piles of crap down in the crawl space, I have the story I wrote to get my writer's badge in the Girl Guides. It was the ONLY badge I got. *LOL* I can't remember the name of the story, just that it was about a family with 7 kids who go on a camping trip. I was 11 at the time.
Was it any good?
I got my badge!
Write poetry?
Nope.
Angsty poetry?
Um... again, nope.
Favourite genre of writing?
Right now it would be RPS, wouldn't it? *LOL* And through this, I'm discovering the joys of writing short stories.
Most fun character you ever wrote?
I have to admit, I find writing Lars a huge amount of fun, whether it be in slash or in het. I laugh alot when I write him. I also had a character in one original fantasy fic I was working on - a sly, thief-type, anti-hero character who was a hoot - and damned if I can remember his name. *LOL*
Most annoying character you ever wrote?
That would be James Winthrop Frayne from the Trixie Belden Mysteries. Yeah, another fanfic situation. Jim is the most upright, proper, do-the-right-thing, anal, ANNOYING creature to write. And seeing as he's the hero of the series, it's hard to avoid having to deal with him. *LOL*
Best plot you ever wrote?
Not the greatest with plots... I tend to write more character-driven fiction because my plots sorta fizzle out before I'm halfway through. *LOL*
Coolest plot twist you ever wrote?
That would have to be the ending of Eyes.
How often do you get writer's block?
Often enough so that it's annoying.
How do you fix it?
Various ways. Work on something else. Head for the research links and books. Watch some of my favorite DVDs. Brainstorm with Ang. *LOL* Whatever works..
Write fan fiction?
Have been writing some sort of fanfiction since the age of 12, so um... 36 years? YIKES!! I was writing it before it actually existed, wasn't I? *LOL*
Do you type or write by hand?
Type, baby, TYPE!!! I do however, have a journal type notebook that I jot ideas and stuff down in.
Do you save everything you write?
Pretty much, you never know when it will come in handy.
Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it?
I've been known to.
What's your favourite thing that you've written?
Hmmm... don't know that I have a total favourite. I'm really fond of Turn The Page of my recent stuff. There are paragraphs and scenes I've written over the years that I'm taken with.
What's everyone else's favourite thing that you've written?
You know, I have NO clue. I do know that I got lots of oohs and ahs for Eyes. I really don't know for sure.
Do you even show people your work?
Sure, both online and in RL.
Who's your favourite constructive critic?Do you have a web site for your writing?
Yeah... Oh, WTF... here you go... get crazy... http://www.leaflets-three.com It's the website I set up for my Trixie Belden fanfic - it has a little Seven Brides for Seven Brothers on there too. All het, BTW. I have been toying with the idea of setting up some pages for my recent stuff though... we'll see.
Did you ever write a novel?
Yep... a couple of them, as a matter of fact - all awful. *LOL*
Have you ever written fantasy, sci-fi, or horror?
Fantasy and sci-fi, yes. Horror, no.
Ever written romance or teen angsty drama?
Hell yeah! *LOL* I love to write romance, and I was once upon a time a teenager who wrote, so some of it must have been angsty and dramatic.
What's your favourite setting for your characters?
The bedroom? *LOL* Okay... seriously... um, I don't think I have a favourite setting. Whatever is working for the story, I guess.
What's one genre you've never written, and probably never will?
Horror. But I've learned - never say never.
How many writing projects are you working on right now, grasshopper?
WIPS? Um... all told? Over a dozen.
Things in my brain:
Oh, it's very cluttered and messy, you DON'T want to go there. *LOL* Suffice to say, it's a busy place.
Do you want to write for a living?
You know? I'd like to be independantly secure so I could just live and write. Wouldn't want the pressure of depending on my writing to put food on the table.
Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper?
Yep. Sports articles, believe it or not. And um... I have a letter in one of the Star Trek books - damned if I can think of the name of it right now. *LOL*
Have you ever won an award for your writing?
Not really. Class awards don't count, do they?
Ever written something in script or play format?
Yes, for school. We had to write a script updating the famous The Highwayman poem for modern times. What a hoot!
What are your five favourite words?
Well, I don't know about favourite, but I like 'em! Serendipity, ethereal, sunshine, trilling, chortle.
Do you ever parody?
Nope, can't say that I do. Knowingly, anyway. *LOL*
What's your favourite thing to parody?
Um... see above?
Do you actually like that thing, or are you spitefully making fun of it?
Um... see above above?
Do you ever write based on yourself?
BASED on myself, no. Do I end up in my characters? I think a little bit of myself ends up in every one of them, to be honest.
What character that you've written most resembles yourself?
Would be a toss-up between Mart Belden in the Trixie fanfics or Lars. *scratches head* Two guys... shit, look at that. Huh.
Where do you get ideas for your other characters?
Oh, God, everywhere!
Do you ever write based on your dreams?
Can't say that I do, nope.
Do you favor happy endings, sad endings, or cliff-hangers?
I always have to have a happy ending. Somewhere. Maybe not this story in the cycle, or that story in the cycle - but in the end... the very last story? It's gonna end happy. Not necessarily clichéd happy, but in a positive way.
Have you ever written based on a work of art that you've seen?
Do you count photos as art? If so, yeah. If not... I can't say that I have.
Are you concerned with spelling and grammar as you write?
Yes... but it's a subconcious thing, really. I mean, I know how to talk and am fairly educated, so I don't have to um... apply myself to use correct spelling and grammar, I just do.
Ever write something entirely in chatspeak (how r u)?
Why the fuck would I? I'm not a moron.
Entirely in 1337?
Again... see above.
Was that question completely appalling and un-writer like?
Totally.
Does music help you write?
Most definitely.
Do you have a weblog or livejournal?
Um.... you're there? *arched eyebrow*
Are people surprised and confused when they find out you write well?
Surprised? Yeah, pleasantly so, I think. Confused? Why would they be confused? Now I'm confused!
Quote something you've written.
“I’ll call,” she whispered, slipping from the warmth of the bed and his arms finally. “I promise.” She bent over him and gave him one last, soft kiss.
Lars said nothing, his eyes following her about the room as she gathered up the clothing she’d been wearing the previous night and grabbed her purse from the dresser. As she reached the door, she turned, clutching her belongings to her, and gave him a small, wistful smile. With her tousled hair falling about her in a bright cloud, her small frame almost swamped in his t-shirt she looked suddenly young and vulnerable in the early morning light. God, he didn’t want her to go!
“Y’all miss me just a little bit, okay?” She touched her fingers to her lips lightly then waved them in his direction and left the room.
“Motherfuck!” His voice was raspy in the silence. He ran his hand over his face. “Motherfuck! MOTHERFUCK!”
*wink* Thought it'd be slashy, didn't ya?
