evaine_ljIn more than one entry on my flist over the past 24 hours, there has been mention of the passing of a special lady. ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
thamiris. I did not know her, but I wish I had.
I've spent the latter part of the afternoon and the early part of this evening reading some of her work in different fandoms. Smallville, Harry Potter, Hercules... She was a LOVELY writer.
I'm not a Smallville fan, I think I've only watched the show 2 or 3 times. But the handful of stories I read from her Smallville section of fic were marvelously crafted pieces! Thick with character and emotion and just plain hot sexiness.
And the Hercules stories - there are so many of them! The few I read were sexy and erotic and again, filled with depth of character and just plain beautiful turns of phrases. Describing my favorite - Iolaus - to open one story... There's a warmth to Iolaus, a light, that makes Iphicles want to stand close. Sounds wrong to use words like that, but Iphicles is no poet, and can only describe how he feels. It's not just the hair, either, the yellowness of it. No one can smile like Iolaus, like he's swallowed the sun, and it's shining through his skin. ... OMG, I fall in love all over again.
And the one Harry Potter story I read - Sirius/Remus because that's the fave ship of my wonderful friendmidnitemaraud_r, who guided me into the world of slash - oh, it was SUPERB! I hope I'm not breaking any LJ or internet etiquette by posting this link... The Man in the Moon, is a beautiful piece!
So, I didn't know her, but her writing lives on and has given me some joy today. I can only hope that her work won't disappear from the internet because it is a wonderful legacy.
