So it's been quite busy around here the last few days... hell, since the beginning of the week. *LOL*

Did all my shopping at the last minute - insane, I know, but that's the way the budget fell, you know? I have to say, going out on Monday and then again on Wednesday wasn't has horrid as I was expecting it to be. Damned economy, I guess. *sigh* I did go out early in the morning though. Monday I was home by 11:30 - Christmas Eve was another story. *LOL*

Christmas Eve, Michael and I have a tradition that we go out for breakfast, just the two of us. Last year and this year, however, we invited his little half-sister to go along with us. This year, she'd just turned 10 and she adores her big brother. And Michael returns the favour. *LOL* So... the three of us went for breaky - and kudos to my ex and his wife, they have no qualms about me taking her for the day - things aren't so easy in a lot of divorced families, this I know. So we had a great breakfast together and then hit the stores. Seeing as it wasn't nuts, it was actually fun, hiding things from Michael, whispering with Victoria. And Michael took her to see Santa Claus... AWWWWW! He really is a good big brother.

By the time we dropped her off, around 3-ish, the weather was turning kind of crappy - rain mixed with snow, so we were glad to get home. Then it was the wrapping marathon. *LOL* I was lucky, I'd finished everything but what I'd bought that day. Michael, of course, hadn't even started. *LOL* Normally my friend JB comes over on Xmas Eve and we have some wine, look at the tree, tease Michael... all that stuff, but with the weather being gross, and both Michael and I being exhausted after our day a-field, we decided it best if JB just comes over on the 26th.

Christmas Day was really nice. Michael and I had a quiet morning, opening gifts and all. Then in the afternoon, we watched Mamma Mia! which is now one of my Top Ten favorite movies. What a HOOT!!! Oh, we laughed so much! And I swear, I was still grinning and humming hours later.

Our Christmas plan this year was to have steaks on Christmas Day, thinking it would be just the two of us and then our turkey on the 26th. At the last minute, his buddy, Jeff, called. He and his girlfriend, Sarah had had a change in plans and were free Xmas night. So... we said, if you have some steaks, come on over and join us! (We'd only expected to see them after this weekend). So they did! We had a nice evening, chatting around the table, enjoying our steaks and baked potatoes. Sarah's finally losing some of her shyness so at last she joined in the conversations. *grin* And then they headed off around 9:30, leaving me time for a nice chat with Julie on IM.

Today is turkey day. It's in the oven now. JB is coming over as well as a trio of Michael's buddies. Malcolm and his girlfriend Chelsea and another fellow, Robbie. And then, thank the Lord, I'll be finished cooking for a while! *LOL*

I got some nice loot, I have to admit. Books, DVDs and CDs that I had been asking for. My Xmas box from Julie, filled with all sorts of treats - coffee beans, little stuffed animals, a flamingo ornament, a Nascar souvenir... all kinds of things to make me grin.

So now I'm going to kick back and relax for a bit, until I have to start thinking about getting the veggies and potatoes ready for supper. And it just occurs to me that I've not eaten anything yet today... no wonder my tummy's grumbly. *grin* So I shall search out something to eat as well.

I'll be needing my second week of vacation to recover from the first!

I hope all of my flist is enjoying this holiday season, whichever holiday you choose to observe, even if it's just good old Time Off. I"m hugging you all real, real tight!
