Winter is Truly Here!

I'm so glad I took my birthday off. Winter has hit us and I'm EXTREMELY pleased not to have be driving in this stuff.

This is from the kitchen windows out into my driveway. That $150 I paid for snow removal this year looks to be money well spent. They were by early this morning and will probably be back around supper time. And again in the AM if it continues to snow overnight.

And here's looking out of the living room windows. There's just SO much white!

Have I mentioned that I hate winter?

Oh, and this is BB, my Birthday Bear that my son gave me this morning...

... along with two CDs that were on my wish list - State of Shock's Life, Love & Lies and Mika's Life in Cartoon Motion. I discovered State of Shock (Canadian band out of Vancouver) this past spring and have been looking forward to this, their second album. And Mika, well, he just makes me smile and that's good!

We have snow here, too! You're SUPPOSED to have snow...we're not. ;)

Happy Birthday...again. Enjoy your day off. =)

*LOL* Whether or not we're S'POSED to get it, I really don't WANT it. *grin*

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I have done nothing constructive all day - it's been wonderful!

It's too bad you weren't dreaming of a white birthday. :D

Happy birthday!!!

If I was dreaming of that, it'd be white sand. *grin*

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Happy Birthday! Ooooohhh, snow! I'm sure it's a pain but it looks pretty. I was 22 before I ever saw any in person. Enjoy your day!

Thank you! I will admit to the prettiness, as long as I don't have to shovel it, drive in it or otherwise deal with it on a personal level. *LOL*

The bear is adorable. The snow - eh - pretty but you can so keep it.

Have a wonderful day, enjoy the day off, and happy birthday!

Thanks for the birthday wishes! You sure I can't convince you to take a truckload or two of the cold, white stuff off my hands? ;)

Happy birthday! And amen to someone ELSE getting rid of the snow for you.

(edited to remove a mysterious "H" -- maybe it was another "Happy Birthday" creeping in)

Thank you! You know, I wish I'd hired snow removal YEARS ago!

Oh, the pretteee! I want snow now!! *stomps foot*

Happy B-Day, Ev! Good move to take the day off, I usually do that as well. :)

I wish I could package all the snow up and send it to you!

Where I work, we actually have a clause in our collective agreement that states that one of our 2 floating holiday days a year can be taken on our birthday and management cannot refuse to grant them. It's nice being totally lazy on one's birthday. *grin*

Thanks for the wishes!

[identity profile] tasyfa.livejournal.com 2007-12-04 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Do you really? That's an awesome clause, I love it! :D Glad you had a "you" day - best kind of gift. (Though, this comes out tomorrow and of course I thought of you! I'd like it, anyway, lol.)

Your yard looks a lot like mine. *eyeroll* Except I DID work today. The drive home wasn't too bad though; one of the advantages to working weird hours is that the snowplows can do their job properly once the office workers are home, so the roads are usually clear by the time I go home. And ditto again in the morning.

Also, your snow removal guy wouldn't happen to have a Haligonian counterpart, would he? I would TOTALLY pay $150/year to have my driveway and porch shovelled out all winter!!! I wonder if I *can* find someone who does that locally. That's actually a pretty reasonable figure, and liable to be a steal this year with the way things are going. Apparently, there's not going to be anywhere in Canada that isn't going to have a white Christmas!

[identity profile] evaine.livejournal.com 2007-12-04 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
I got the $150/year deal back in the beginning of October. Sign up before the 15th and you get that price. Afterwards, it jumps to $225 I believe. I'm really, really glad I opted to go for it this year. (Just not having to listen to Michael bitch and moan makes it worth it. *LOL*)

And I'm going to have to add that to my Xmas list! More music!! Whooo hooo! Me loves me some Godsmack!

[identity profile] tasyfa.livejournal.com 2007-12-04 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'll definitely have to scout around for next year, maybe make that the Christmas present to the 'rents. Especially if I'm not living here anymore, right? Now if I could just find the same kind of deal for someone to mow the lawn...!

Here, it's usually the guys that take care of landscaping and the like in the summertime that do snow removal in the winter. I got a flyer in the mail back at the end of September. And if I were one of your parental units, it'd be a gift I'd truly LOVE!
