I just spent the last half hour sitting out on the front porch enjoying the sun and the light breeze, mulling fics over in my mind while I sucked on my coffee. It's one of those lovely summer days out there - good for the soul, ya know?

Not a whole helluva lot to be honest. Work is... work. It's really a shame I can't be independently wealthy. It would make my life SO much easier. *grin*

Thanks to some pompom waving from [livejournal.com profile] cobrasnaps I've managed to write a little bit. A very little bit, but hey, it's more than I've done lately, that's for sure! I also got somewhat rekindled on my epic fic of a fic, so when [livejournal.com profile] glam_ang expressed an interest over Twitter that she might like to check out what I'd been working on, I sent it off to her. That actually made me a little giddy! *LOL* My hope is to have something completed by the time [livejournal.com profile] joolz82253 gets out of the hospital, God knows what at this point, but I'd really like to have something for her to read. (Pretend you didn't see this, Julie, okay? *LOL* Make like it's a surprise.)

Touched base very quickly with [livejournal.com profile] tasyfa last night. The time difference between here and the UK doesn't really lend itself well to long chats, most unfortunately. But she seems to be settling into her new digs pretty well and that's a good thing!

Hmmm... what else? Well, I've been listening to Rob Thomas' "Cradlesong" album quite a bit over the past couple of weeks. I love it to bits! The whole thing just makes me happy and content... and he sounds WONDERFUL!!! I'm also still rotating "Death Magnetic", "21st Century Breakdown" and a Shinedown album whose name I can't bring to mind right now, in the car. I LOVE my music - can't live without it!

I've been reading some really interesting Arrow/Bat family fic. [livejournal.com profile] crack_van has been a GOLDMINE of good fic recs for me. While I might only write band fiction these days, there are alot of fandoms I like to read; including the DC comics family (Arrows and Bats all the way!!), The Magnificent Seven, NCIS, and lets not forget some of that terrific U2 fiction I finally found! At last, some Larry Mullen tales! *grin*

In conclusion, I leave you with a pic that made me grin this morning. Can you say "Rent Boy"? I knew you could. *grin*

Here's wishing a LOVELY weekend to all my flisties!

Meant to mention: in retrospect, last weekend's four-wheeled motorsport action, namely NASCAR, Indycar and F1, can fuck off. :/ Between the obvious, Juan Pablo's bullshit penalty and Tony Kanaan's pit fire, I'm inclined to pretend none of those races happened.

I felt really bad for Juan Pablo, he had an amazing car. Tomorrow is another race though and hopefully he won't let the one colour the other!

Yeah, he seemed pretty much over it by the time he got onto Twitter that night. I guess knowing for sure that he had the car to not just win but dominate on an oval must've softened the blow a bit. :)

Dude. Rent boy, 100%. (He looks so cuuuute too.)

And, YAY FICS. I'm working on a few while me and mom do errands this weekend, like eye appointments and DMV stuff (bleh). Query letters as well. Losta losta writing. WOO. <3

Ain't he just adorable?? *squishes the Lars*

Sounds like you're going to be attached to your keyboard for a good part of the weekend. Nothing too bad about that though. *grin*

The Shinedown album wouldn't be 'The Sound of Madness' would it? I LOVE that album - listened to all or bits of it every day for about the first two weeks I owned it, and was lucky enough to see them back in June as well. What a great band. Have you tried Black Stone Cherry? Slightly more blues-influenced hard rock but they are fantastic (and good friends of Shinedown, which is why I mention them)

No, that's Shinedown's latest and Julie is going to send me a copy. This is one of their earlier albums that she made me a copy for a couple of years ago. And I've heard of Black Stone Cherry, so I guess I'll have to make a note to look them up too, huh?

BTW... I've been reading this series of fics - The Spaghetti Vers - it's a Roy/Jason series. MAN, is it good! Do you know of it?

You certainly will! BSC are young, talented and IMO kinds pretty! (I would say that, what with giving the bassist my number, but still). They are touring the US currently but will be back in the UK in October, thank god, and playing a few minutes walk from my flat :D

I have seen the Roy/Jason fic about but honestly I loathe Jason so much I haven't been able to bring myself to read it. Say...what ever happened to the DC/Metallica fic you were working on hmmm?

Ah, Lars, you little ho' in those tight, tight jeans and fuzzy scarf! :-D (That hair still gets me every time!)

OMG! He was on Rachel Maddow's show a few weeks ago! Talking politics! I meant to email you to see if you'd seen the clip. It was so cute because she was totally fangirling him and trying to be all professional at the same time. :-D (And of course he was very complimentary to her as well. Hee!)

I DID see the clip of that! He's so adorable and charming! Good head on his shoulders too. And I mean, come on, you can't NOT fangril the Lars, no matter how hard you try. Heehee!!

And you know, when I see pics of Lars at that age, I always think about the WONDERFUL time I had at your place when I was writing "Fault Lines" and you were giving me SO much help! "Scallions!!!" Heehee! I still think it's one of my best works, Li, and that's because of you. *grin*

I'd rent Lars that's for sure! Oh wait... do rent boys only offer their services to men?

And yes, I WILL get you The Sound of Madeness by Shinedown. Promise!

Sounds like a nice time spent outside.

Lars will make an exception for you. You can rent him for a cake. *grin*

Did you see... up there *points up*. Kate, [livejournal.com profile] glammetalkitten is another Shinedown fan? I think that's cool beans!
